Theme song for Lamination

I have a friend in Earth, who is addicted to "action movies". He can talk about them for a long time without getting bored with his subjects; and when it comes to the "blockbusters", he can analyse its strong and weak points in every detail, and that makes me think of him as a potential critic in his later life. He shows me lots of movies that's "worth seeing for once in your life" and I was indeed get hook up to his comments. The movies are great, without doubts, but there's just one thing that makes me wonder. Why do the theme songs always sound so heavy and ear - piercing? Why can't they be instrumental ?

I like instrumental music, and I know no songs beyond this kind; that's for sure, and that's part of the reason. Some instrumental pieces can take the role of action movies' theme songs without making any contrast, compared to the content. Without lyrics, audiences can understand instrumental music in every way they want to. As for the theme song of Lamination's live action, I think the song "Tempest" from album "The Red Violin" of Ikuko Kawai suit it the most; it has what it takes to be a theme song. This song is performed by Ikuko herself and a group of musicians with other instruments like piano, guitar and drum.

To me, the word "tempest" simultaneously pull the trigger of the gun of words; "rush","fast","short - term", etc;every word that can describes this song.In fact, I've hardly listened to this song, simply because it sounded so strong that didn't suit my taste. But when actually I listen to it time after time, many images pop up inside my mind, and I can feel them, as a tempest. Every rthym overlaps on my heart beat. There is image of Major Sara Intergra falling down from a skycraper, her eyes still open wide without a blink - perhaps it's because the sad rhymths in the beginning. When they become faster, others images instantly show up: a scene of LaMBs rushing into a battle with ugly aliens, with their cold and calm eyes; without fear, without hesitance. As the destruction speeds up, the violin sound also winds up,the latter overlap the former; the artist pulls the bow with all her strength and passion. The perfect combination shakes me constantly, penetrate through my mind, as if it was seeking for a glimpse of my conscious mind to destroy it all.

Of all my heart, I think this is the best song I've ever heard today. Let's just enjoy it, and feel the rhymth that beats constantly. You'll see what I'm talking about is true.

  2. I recently been thinking of going down the lane of making music just for fun, but I haven't decided what I should learn. This is truly an inspiration. Thanks! =)

This is great but if another violin was added, do you think it would be better? just like a duet. I always liked that on lead guitars but never heard them on violins. anyway, lamb is about jack and eve that's why I thought about the duet thingy.
